Elon Musk responded with "LOL" when asked if the Tesla Roadster will beat the Rimac Nevera's 0-60 mph record of 1.74 seconds. However, given the insane performance of the Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid, it's not impossible for the Roadster to break the record. The Roadster is expected to feature an evolution of the tri-motor electric powertrain in the current Plaid models and will be lighter and more aerodynamic. The Roadster is expected to launch next year, and while it won't be a huge contributor to revenue, Musk says "it will be sick."

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 is one of only four production cars capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in under 2 seconds, and the only one with a combustion engine. The other three are the Pininfarina Battista, Rimac Nevera, and Tesla Model S Plaid, but they cost significantly more than the Demon. While the Demon's acceleration numbers were recorded on a sticky surface and with the engine running on E85 fuel, it still offers a great price-to-performance ratio.
