Yale has launched its first retrofit smart door lock, the $129.99 Yale Approach with Wi-Fi, which attaches to the back of the door and works with a new wireless Yale Keypad. The lock includes smart features like auto-unlock and locking from a phone, and will have the option of a firmware upgrade to add Matter-over-Thread connectivity later this year. It is compatible with major smart home platforms except Apple Home and comes with a plug-in Yale Connect module to connect to Wi-Fi. The lock also supports a new wireless protocol called Matter, enabling compatibility with various smart home platforms.

CFM International announces upgrades and advancements for LEAP engines.

CFM International is redesigning some parts of its LEAP engine to improve durability in harsh climates, to be available for retrofit on Airbus and Boeing jets next year. The move is in response to the analysis of high-pressure turbine blades and turbine nozzles when operating in harsh and hot environments. CFM provides power for the Boeing 737 MAX and competes with Pratt & Whitney to power the Airbus A320neo family.

Tesla has started offering a retrofit kit for its Model S and Model X vehicles, replacing the Yoke steering wheel with a round one. The $700 kit includes installation by a Service Tech, making the process extremely easy for customers. The new Retrofitted wheel is slightly different than past Model S and Model X steering wheels, but it is still stalkless, meaning all controls are available through buttons on the steering wheel itself.
