"Unlock Higher Performance for Older Nvidia GPUs with Free ReBAR Update"

A modder has found a way to enable resizable BAR on older Nvidia GPUs, such as those based on the Turing architecture, to boost frame rates. The mod, called NvStrapsReBar, requires tweaking the motherboard's BIOS/EFI and comes with a level of risk. While it doesn't work with Pascal architecture GPUs, it has shown benefits in some games for Turing GPUs like the RTX 2000 and GTX 1600 series. However, caution is advised as there's a risk of bricking the motherboard when modifying its firmware.

"Unlocking Resizable BAR Support for Nvidia Turing GPUs: A Risky Free Mod"

Unofficial NVStrapsReBar UEFI driver enables Resizable BAR support on older NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 & GTX 16 "Turing" GPUs, allowing the CPU to access the entire GPU memory space through the PCIe interconnect for potential performance gains. Flashing a new UEFI image on the motherboard is necessary for Turing GPUs to enable ReBAR, and while the tech offers increased performance, it may not benefit all games.

Nvidia and Intel Clash Over Starfield Performance and Compatibility

Nvidia is releasing an update that improves Starfield performance for owners of RTX 30- and 40-series cards. The update includes a Resizable BAR profile that increases performance by an average of 5% for GeForce RTX 40-series desktop GPUs. The update also includes one-click optimal settings for Starfield and fixes the GPU profile for the Microsoft Store version. This comes after Digital Foundry found significant performance gaps between AMD and Nvidia/Intel GPUs in Starfield, and it remains to be seen if the update will help close the gap.
