Airbnb has officially banned the use of indoor security cameras at its rental listings worldwide, following criticism and reports of hidden cameras. The change, effective April 30, aims to prioritize user privacy and will require hosts to disclose any outdoor cameras. The company stated that the majority of its listings do not have security cameras, and the ban will likely only affect a small portion of rentals. Competitor VRBO has already prohibited internal cameras since 2022.
