UAW's Negotiations with Ford and GM Intensify as Strikes and Deals Unfold
The United Auto Workers (UAW) is set to begin the ratification process for its tentative contract with Ford, which includes 25% pay raises over the 4.5-year contract. Meanwhile, negotiations with General Motors (GM) continue as the UAW called for a strike at GM's Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. The strike has increased the number of GM union workers on strike to over 18,200, with around 2,460 workers temporarily laid off. The UAW also reached a similar tentative deal with Stellantis, featuring 25% wage hikes and a $5,000 ratification bonus.
