"Enhanced Performance: RadeonSI Driver Now Supports Perfetto Integration"

AMD driver engineer Saroj Kumar has added Perfetto integration to the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver, allowing for tracing and profiling of the open-source OpenGL driver. Perfetto, developed by Google, is an open-source solution for system profiling and tracing on Linux and Android systems. The integration is now optional with Mesa 23.3, and around 400 lines of code have been added to support Perfetto tracing within the RadeonSI driver. The integration has been merged ahead of the upcoming Mesa 23.3 release.

AMD Boosts Linux Gaming with Mesa and Driver Updates for Steam Deck.

Mesa 23.1 has enabled Rusticl Rust-written OpenCL driver support for RadeonSI, thanks to a merge request by Red Hat's Karol Herbst. This modern OpenCL support for RadeonSI is an alternative to using the ROCm OpenCL stack or the aging "Clover" Gallium3D OpenCL driver. Rusticl has previously outperformed ROCm OpenCL in benchmarks, and going the Rusticl route should be easier for running open-source Radeon OpenCL on non-enterprise Linux distributions where ROCm isn't officially certified/tested.
