Global Efforts Intensify to Combat Fentanyl Trade and Production
China's narcotics control agency has issued a warning against the manufacture and sale of substances used to make illegal drugs, following President Xi Jinping's commitment to stem the export of items related to fentanyl production. The circular also cautioned against the risk of foreign law enforcement agencies' "long-arm jurisdiction." Under the agreement with the United States, China will target specific chemical companies producing fentanyl precursors. Any person or company involved in the sale, transport, or export of illegal drugs or precursor chemicals may face criminal charges or fines, according to the circular. The United States has sought China's cooperation to halt the flow of precursor chemicals used in the production of fentanyl.
