Fatalities Caused by Falling Trees in Bay Area Amid High Winds
A van driver was killed in Portola Valley, California, after a tree fell onto the vehicle while it was moving. The driver was the only occupant of the van and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred during a storm system that brought gusty winds, downing trees and power lines across the Bay Area and Central Coast. The California Highway Patrol closed Alpine Road west of I-280, and there is no estimated time of reopening.
