The survey, conducted by political scientists Justin Vaughn and Brandon Rottinghaus, aimed to create a ranking of presidential greatness from George Washington to Joe Biden. The top of the chart saw little change, with Abraham Lincoln ranked first. The authors noted the impact of campaigns for racial justice on the reputations of certain presidents. The survey also revealed that every contemporary Democratic president has moved up in the ranks, while every modern Republican president has dropped.
