"Neo-Nazi Marches in Wisconsin Spark Heightened Security Measures"

Madison police and University of Wisconsin-Madison police closely monitored a neo-Nazi group that marched through downtown Madison, with over 20 individuals wearing red and black and some carrying swastika flags. The group, which did not display any weapons, walked through the city and ended at James Madison Park. Governor Tony Evers condemned the group, stating that neo-Nazis, antisemitism, and white supremacy have no place in Wisconsin. Senator Tammy Baldwin also denounced the hate, emphasizing the importance of denouncing such ideologies. The University of Wisconsin-Madison strongly condemned the group's presence and offered support to the campus community. UWPD will continue to monitor the situation ahead of a Badger football game.

Concerns over Safety Prompt Increased Police Monitoring at Endicott's Northside Pool

The Village of Endicott in New York is implementing additional security measures at the Northside Pool following an attack on a lifeguard. The Endicott Police Department will increase its visible presence at the pool, checking in with lifeguards and ensuring people can see the heightened security. The motive for the increased security is in response to previous incidents where lifeguards were attacked while attempting to remove individuals from the pool premises. The village also plans to have an additional pair of "adult eyes" on the pool deck to assist lifeguards in handling escalating situations. The pool's opening date has not been announced yet.

Hong Kong sees first authorized protest in years under strict police monitoring.

Hong Kong saw its first protest in two years against a land reclamation plan in the city's east, with only 100 people allowed to attend and strict police monitoring. The rally was the first since China imposed sweeping restrictions on the rights and freedoms of people living in the territory, eroding the rights guaranteed under Hong Kong's mini-constitution, the Basic Law. Critics say the national security law imposed by Beijing in 2020 was designed to squash dissent and weaken Hong Kong's autonomy.
