Motorola announced the Moto Watch at CES, boasting up to 13 days of battery life, Polar-powered health tracking, dual-frequency GPS, and open-source software, setting it apart from competitors like Apple and Google.
Polar has unveiled the Polar Grit X2 Pro, featuring offline maps, dual-frequency GPS, an improved heart rate sensor, and an AMOLED display. The watch also introduces new software features such as Strava routes support, vertical speed, VAM, 3D speed, and historical track display. The Grit X2 Pro shares the same software and internal hardware components as the Polar Vantage V3, differing only in external case design. The base model is priced at $749, with a Titan edition at $869, raising questions about its competitiveness in the market.
Polar has announced a deep platform integration with Sennheiser's new MOMENTUM Sport earbuds, marking the first non-Polar product to fully integrate into the Polar ecosystem. The earbuds feature built-in heart rate and body temperature sensors and connect directly to the Polar Flow app, providing access to training analytics metrics and body temperature measurements. This integration allows users to access virtually all of the Polar Flow features without needing an additional Polar watch, and the earbuds will also provide navigational guidance when paired with a Polar Vantage V3.
Polar has released the Vantage V3 fitness watch, offering upgrades such as tracking over 150 sports, advanced metrics like Training Load Pro and Wrist-Based Running Power, improved specs including a faster CPU and more storage, a larger AMOLED display, new biosensors for skin temperature and blood oxygen levels, and a longer battery life. The watch can be pre-ordered for $600 or in a bundle with a heart rate strap monitor for $50 more, with deliveries starting on October 25.
This week's sports tech deals include discounts on Apple Watches, Garmin Rally pedals, and Tacx NEO 2T smart trainers. Polar's CEO hinted at a possible return to Wear OS, while Whoop and Oura Ring both released UI updates. Garmin shared sleep stats by country, and Peloton claims to have a technical solution to an upcoming import ban.
