"Rescue Efforts Amid Severe Flooding and Power Outages"
Residents in Johnston, Rhode Island, were once again trapped in their homes due to flooding from the Pocasset River, with some using four-wheelers, kayaks, and rescue vehicles to navigate the floodwaters. Despite a $1.3 million floodplain restoration project in 2021, the flooding persisted, prompting frustration among residents. Mayor Joe Polisena Jr. mentioned the town's response to the flooding, including rescuing tenants at a flooded apartment complex and using military Humvees to shuttle employees to an assisted living facility.
