Japan's Discovery of 'Ammonite' Challenges Planet Nine Theories
Japan's National Astronomical Observatory discovered a new object beyond Pluto, named 2023 KQ14 or 'Ammonite', which challenges the existing Planet 9 hypothesis by its orbit, suggesting a different history of the solar system. The discovery was made using the Subaru Telescope and follow-up observations, and it may imply that a planet once existed but was ejected. The International Astronomical Union will officially name the object.
