"Understanding and Preparing for the Latest COVID Variants: Pirola, Eris, and More"
A new COVID-19 variant called Pirola, with 30 mutations and a different lineage from previous variants, has been reported in seven cases across Denmark, Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom. It is unclear if current vaccinations will provide adequate protection against Pirola. Symptoms of Pirola are not yet known, but individuals with the variant have experienced mild symptoms. To protect against Pirola and other forms of COVID-19, it is recommended to wear quality masks, use air purifiers with HEPA filters, practice good hand hygiene with hand sanitizers, disinfect surfaces regularly, monitor symptoms with a thermometer, and consider taking at-home COVID-19 tests.
