"Global 2000: Ranking the World's Largest Industries in 2023"
The Forbes Global 2000 list of the world's largest public companies includes 100 insurance companies, with UnitedHealth Group taking the top spot and Ping An Insurance of China coming in second. Insurance giants from the US, China, Germany, France, and Switzerland make up five of the top 100 on the list. Rising interest rates have bolstered income for insurers, but the S&P Insurance Select Industry Index has lost nearly 1% in the past year, outpaced by a roughly 3% gain for the benchmark S&P 500 index.
