"Tech Wearables: The New Mood Rings of the Modern Era"

Modern wearables, often referred to as "modern mood rings," are integrating emotional assessment and stress management into daily life. These devices use physiological data, such as electrodermal activity (EDA) and heart rate variability, to track and quantify users' emotional states. While they can detect moments of physiological stress, they cannot determine whether the emotion is positive or negative, leaving interpretation up to the wearer. These wearables increase self-awareness, identify triggers, and promote action, allowing users to anticipate and mitigate future stress responses. However, they are not a replacement for therapy or other mental health interventions.
