"Tech Wearables: The New Mood Rings of the Modern Era"

Modern wearables, often referred to as "modern mood rings," are integrating emotional assessment and stress management into daily life. These devices use physiological data, such as electrodermal activity (EDA) and heart rate variability, to track and quantify users' emotional states. While they can detect moments of physiological stress, they cannot determine whether the emotion is positive or negative, leaving interpretation up to the wearer. These wearables increase self-awareness, identify triggers, and promote action, allowing users to anticipate and mitigate future stress responses. However, they are not a replacement for therapy or other mental health interventions.

Apple's AI Health Coaching Service and Mood Tracker in the Works.

Apple is reportedly developing an AI-powered health coaching service called Quartz, which will use information from a user's Apple Watch to develop coaching programs tailored to them. The company is also working on technology for tracking emotions and plans to roll out an iPad version of the iPhone Health app this year. The service is expected to have a monthly fee and is planned for next year. Apple is also planning to expand its health features by introducing a basic form of blood-pressure monitoring to the Apple Watch in the next few years and noninvasive glucose monitoring technology.
