Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation has unveiled the Pentax PF-85EDA spotting scope, designed for birdwatching, nature observations, and stargazing. The scope features a large-aperture 85mm objective lens, extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements, and the latest optical coatings to reduce chromatic aberrations and internal reflections. Its compact, portable design includes a 45-degree angled eyepiece section for comfortable use and is airtight, waterproof, and dust-proof. The scope accepts a range of eyepieces, offering magnifications from 20 to 78 times, and will be available in February for $1,300, with a kit option for $1,600.
Ricoh has announced the Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome, a DSLR camera designed exclusively for black-and-white photography and video. The camera uses a monochromatic-only sensor that has been completely redesigned and optimized for monochrome photography, resulting in extra-fine detail and sharpness and a richer gradation. The camera has three image modes specifically designed for black-and-white photography and can shoot video up to 4k/30p, although video will also be exclusively in black and white. The camera body will be available starting in late April and will cost $2,199.95 in the US.
