
Sewell Contends for NFL’s Inaugural Protector of the Year Award
Detroit Lions right tackle Penei Sewell is a finalist for the NFL’s first Protector of the Year award for the 2025 season, joining five other offensive linemen; the honor is voted on by a panel of former linemen and based on metrics like skill, impact, durability and strength of opponent. Sewell has earned First-Team All-Pro honors and multiple Pro Bowls, with top-grade profiles from PFF; Aidan Hutchinson is the other Lions finalist for different awards. The NFL Honors ceremony airs Feb. 5 on NBC and NFL Network.
