SSM Health Announces Construction of New Children's Hospital in St. Louis
SSM Health plans to build a new 14-story pediatric hospital in St. Louis to replace the current Cardinal Glennon hospital, which opened in 1956. The new facility will be better equipped to handle the complex and larger equipment used in modern pediatric care. It will have more space for patients' families, a larger emergency department, and over 200 total beds. The hospital is expected to open in 2027 and will incorporate technology-based activities for patients. SSM Health will continue to use parts of the current Cardinal Glennon hospital for outpatient services even after the new building opens.
