Hisham Awartani, a Palestinian American student who was paralyzed in a shooting in Vermont, was released from the hospital to applause. In a video shared by his family, Awartani can be seen waving goodbye as he is moved on a stretcher down a hallway adorned with Palestinian flags. The 20-year-old, who speaks seven languages and is a teaching assistant at Brown University, was shot along with two friends while walking near his grandmother's home. The shooter, Jason Eaton, has been charged with attempted murder. Awartani's loved ones have set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover his medical expenses.
