Surviving the Vermont Shooting: Palestinian-American Student's Harrowing Account
Kinnan Abdalhamid, one of the three Palestinian-American college students shot in Vermont, recalls the terrifying moment when they were attacked and how an emergency SOS call likely saved their lives. Abdalhamid and his friends were shot while out walking, and he believed his friends were dead until he made the call for help. One of his friends may have saved them by using the emergency SOS button on his phone. Abdalhamid believes they were targeted for speaking Arabic. The shooter, Jason J. Eaton, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of second-degree attempted murder. Despite the trauma, Abdalhamid is focused on the recovery of his friends and the ongoing struggles faced by Palestinians.
