Breakthrough Knee Arthritis Treatments Offer Pain Relief and Surgery Alternatives
A new study highlights the effectiveness of genicular artery embolization (GAE), a minimally invasive procedure, in providing significant pain relief for knee osteoarthritis patients, potentially delaying or preventing the need for knee replacement surgery. The study, involving 403 patients, showed an 87% improvement in quality of life and a 71% reduction in pain scores over a year, with no severe complications. GAE could offer a promising alternative for those unresponsive to conventional treatments, especially in early stages of the disease.
