WWII Destroyer USS Edsall, 'Dancing Mouse,' Found After 80 Years
The U.S.S. Edsall, a U.S. World War II warship known for its role in the Pacific campaign, has been discovered at the bottom of the Indian Ocean by the Royal Australian Navy. The ship, sunk by Japanese forces in 1942, was found 200 miles east of Christmas Island. This discovery marks the final resting place of over 200 servicemen and honors their sacrifice. The Edsall was known for its evasive maneuvers, earning the nickname 'Dancing Mouse.' The announcement coincided with Veterans' Day in the U.S. and Remembrance Day in Australia and Britain.
