"New Bird-Winged Fish Species Discovered in Fiji Waters"
A new species of scorpionfish, named Neomerinthe ornithoptera, has been discovered in the tropical waters of Fiji and the Wallis and Futuna Islands in the southwest Pacific. This unique fish has longer pectoral-fin rays resembling a bird wing, and lacks certain spines typically found in scorpionfish. The bird wing scorpionfish, unlike its venomous relatives, inhabits deeper waters and is found near a few islands in the Pacific Ocean.
