
Amazon ditched Blue Jay, bets on modular Orbital for smaller warehouses
Amazon has paused its Blue Jay ceiling-mounted multi-arm warehouse robot due to cost and deployment hurdles, reallocating staff and integrating core tech into future systems as it pivots to the modular Orbital platform designed for smaller, flexible same-day warehouses and potential micro-fulfillment in places like Whole Foods; the first Orbital rollout isn’t expected until 2027.
