
"Nanoscale Light Enhancement: Revolutionizing Cancer Detection"
Researchers at Vanderbilt University have developed an engineered nanostructured surface called a quasi-BIC dielectric metasurface, which can trap micro and sub-micron particles within seconds. This technology can enhance the transport of analytes to biosensing surfaces, detect aggregated particles or molecules, and boost detection sensitivity. The researchers believe this capability could be utilized for cancer detection and longitudinal patient treatment monitoring. This is the first experimental demonstration of using quasi-BIC for manipulating fluid flow and suspended particles.
