MERS Outbreak Concerns Rise in UAE as New Case Confirmed
A 28-year-old man in the city of Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, near the Oman border, has tested positive for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV), according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The man was admitted to the hospital last month, and health officials have not found any secondary infections among the 108 people he had contact with. There is no evidence that he came into contact with dromedary camels, which are known to spread the disease. MERS-CoV has been recorded in 27 countries since 2012, with 2,605 cases and 936 associated deaths reported.
