Gov. Stitt wields veto power to push education plan and punish opposition.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has vetoed legislation intended to renew the authorization of the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) for another three years, putting the future of the state's public broadcaster at risk. Stitt questioned OETA's long-term value to the state, saying that its strategic value is at best unclear. OETA's legal mandate to be Oklahoma's public broadcaster will expire on July 1 without legislative intervention. Both the House and Senate would have to override the veto.
