Buc-ee's, the popular gas station chain, is opening two new stores this week, including its first in Virginia and a location in Brunswick, Georgia, with plans for further expansion across the US in 2026, especially in Texas and the South.
Wegmans is expanding its presence with new stores opening in 2025, including locations in Rockville, Maryland, Norwalk, Connecticut, and Lake Grove, New York, with additional plans for Charlotte, North Carolina, and other cities.
Chipotle Mexican Grill reported better-than-expected Q1 profits and sales, driven by higher menu prices, 41 new restaurant openings, and some recovery among lower-income customers. The company expects mid-to-high single-digit comparable sales growth in Q2 and full year. Chipotle's base of higher-income customers were eating its bowls and burritos more often, while lower-income customers were also eating at Chipotle more often after a pullback. The company's menu prices were about 10% higher in Q1 versus last year, but they will be only about 5% higher in Q2 as previous price hikes roll off.
Haywood Mall in South Carolina is set to welcome new stores, including a Brazilian-American steakhouse, Video Game World, Mochimee, Tempur-Pedic, and Mrs. Fields. The mall will also have a new Garage store opening in winter 2023. These new stores will add to the mall's current roster of over 120 stores, many of which are the first of their kind to open in the state.
