Escalating Tensions: Chinese Carrier Group Trains in Western Pacific, Taiwan on High Alert
A Chinese naval formation led by the aircraft carrier Shandong entered the western Pacific for training, passing near Taiwan's southeast coast. Taiwan's defense ministry also reported the presence of 11 Chinese military aircraft in its air defense identification zone and stated that it responded appropriately. China has been increasing its military activities near Taiwan, which it considers part of its territory, in response to perceived collaboration between Taiwan and the United States. Taiwan strongly disputes Beijing's sovereignty claims.
