The space shuttle Endeavour, displayed at the California Science Center since 2012, will be taken off public view as it transitions from a horizontal exhibit to a vertical display, simulating its launch configuration with rocket boosters and an external tank. The new exhibit is part of the under-construction Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center and won't be accessible to visitors for several years, with the last chance to see it in its current form on December 31, 2023. Nearly 20 million visitors have seen Endeavour at the center, which has also been featured in Hollywood events and films. Other space shuttles remain on exhibit at various locations across the United States.
