Mother Receives Prison Sentence for Fatal Crash that Claims Lives of Her Three Sons
A mother in Michigan has been sentenced to 35 days in jail, 2 years of probation, and 400 hours of community service after causing a crash that killed her 14-year-old son. The accident occurred when the mother, Sarae Daggett, ran into the back of a semitruck on the highway. While drugs and alcohol were not involved, the judge determined that Daggett was driving at least 60 mph and not paying attention to the road. Despite calls from the family for a harsher punishment, the judge cited Daggett's previous driving record and followed the recommended sentencing guidelines. The father of the victim expressed disappointment, believing that justice was not served.
