"Ukraine Modernizes Military Arsenal with Vintage Soviet Deep-Strike Missile"
The Ukrainian air force may be repurposing obsolete S-200 surface-to-air missile systems as ground-attack weapons, potentially replacing their dwindling stockpile of Tochka ballistic missiles. While there is no official confirmation, the conversion is not unprecedented, as Russian forces have been using newer S-300 missiles for ground attacks. The S-200, developed in the 1960s, has a range of up to 190 miles and can reach altitudes of 130,000 feet. By modifying the guidance system, the Ukrainians could potentially extend the missile's range for ground attacks. This could provide a temporary solution until Ukraine receives more modern long-range rockets from its allies.
