Miss Nicaragua Director Resigns Amid Government Accusations and Conspiracy Charges
Karen Celebertti, the director of the Miss Nicaragua pageant, has resigned following charges of conspiracy and treason. Celebertti, along with her husband and son, was accused of involvement in a plot to overthrow the Nicaraguan government. The charges stem from anti-government protests in 2018, and police claim Celebertti used beauty pageants as "political traps and ambushes." The Miss Universe Organization has accepted her resignation and expressed support for the transparency and integrity of the pageant. Celebertti's husband and son have been detained in Nicaragua, while she remains in Mexico.
