BMW Commits $750 Million to UK Plants for Fully Electric Mini Production

BMW plans to invest £600 million ($750 million) in its UK plants to transition its Mini brand to fully electric vehicles by 2030. BMW's EV Sales to Continue Driving Growth in 2023.

BMW Group's fully electric vehicle sales more than doubled in Q1, with over 64,000 units sold, up 83.2% YoY, despite overall sales slipping 1.5%. BMW brand EV sales more than doubled (+112.3%) in Q1 and will remain the "main growth driver" this year. The automaker plans to offer at least one fully electric model in every major segment and anticipates a "steep growth trajectory" in the next few years. By 2026, BMW plans for about one in every three new vehicles to have a fully electric drivetrain as it looks to keep pace in the rapidly evolving auto industry.
