Minecraft 26.1 Pre-Release 3 has been released for the Java Edition, marking the next pre-release in the 26.1 update cycle.

The first pre-release for Minecraft Java Edition 26.1 (Tiny Takeover) ships with bug fixes and a range of data- and resource-pack updates, including new text component formats, an updated time command, bone-meal related world-generation changes, and improved environment attribute handling; players should back up worlds before testing the build.

Minecraft 26.1 Snapshot 10 introduces new particles to indicate mob aging with Golden Dandelions, shrinks baby mob heads, makes Striders inherit warmth from their mount, and adds growth-related particles (pause_mob_growth and reset_mob_growth). It also updates data pack to 99.3 and resource pack to 82, refreshes textures for baby mobs, and fixes a broad bug list along with UI/IME and armor display tweaks. Enable snapshots in the launcher to try it, keeping in mind testing versions can corrupt worlds.

Minecraft introduces the last wave of redesigned baby mobs—baby hoglin, baby zoglin, baby strider, snifflet, and baby panda—now in Java snapshot and Bedrock beta/preview, with cute yet still hostile behavior; players can test them by enabling snapshots or previews and are asked to provide feedback as development continues.

Minecraft's Java Edition receives Snapshot 9 as part of the 26.1 update, announced by the Java Team on February 18, 2026.

Minecraft Marketplace launches Bluey’s House DLC, inviting players into Bluey’s cozy Brisbane home to complete tasks, hunt for keys, and unlock an ice-cream adventure through a variety of mini-games and dress-up activities; a free Chattermax Mask is available in the Dressing Room until March 6, 2026, with Bedrock Edition required.

Mojang Studios announces the Minecraft Safety Council, a group of internal and external safety experts who will discuss player-safety best practices, communicate safety topics to parents, and guide game design to foster positive behavior and safer multiplayer in Minecraft.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition Preview 26.10.21 adds seven new baby mobs with fresh animations across biomes and introduces the Golden Dandelion, a flower that can pause baby aging, while unveiling a wide range of bug fixes, accessibility tweaks, UI/API updates, and performance improvements; players are invited to test features and share feedback, with noted caveats that the Golden Dandelion cannot be used for Suspicious Stew or Yellow Dye and some on‑use interactions are not yet implemented.

Seven baby mobs (foxes, polar bears, bees, llamas, armadillos, camels, goats) get refreshed visuals in this snapshot, while a sweeping overhaul of world data formats and a new world-upgrading screen requiring a backup on first load accompany updated data/resource pack versions and storage reorganizations across dimensions.

Nadja announces she is taking over this month’s Java Realms map release, sharing her top map picks (Anaglyph, Xaleem’s Battle of the Bands, Beast Fortress, Sky Brawl, Starlight Nexus, Ice Outpost) and explaining how to load the maps in Realms. She also highlights updates to current maps (Beaconators, Be-Boxed, Desolate Desert, Destroy, Void Chains) with new features and bug fixes, thanks Mojang and Oskar for the support, and invites players to try Realms and learn how to load content.

Minecraft is testing a batch of new baby mobs—baby axolotls, baby squid and glow squid, baby dolphins, and baby turtles—with redesigned looks and a growth mechanic where feeding a baby mob a golden dandelion makes it grow into an adult. The features are available in Java snapshots and Bedrock previews/betas, and Mojang is asking players to provide feedback as testing continues.

Minecraft 26.1 Snapshot 5 adds new baby mob models (axolotl, dolphin, turtle, squid, glow squid) and a Golden Dandelion that can halt aging for baby mobs, along with UI tweaks, data/pack updates, and numerous recipe and tag changes.

Minecraft lead dev Jens 'Jeb' Bergensten says Hytale is polished but would rather play Minecraft, a sentiment echoed by Hypixel’s Simon Collins-Laflamme who notes Hytale still has a long way to go. The piece highlights Hytale’s ongoing Early Access, its modding potential, and planned features like bosses, dungeons, and expanded fantasy worlds as it differentiates itself from Minecraft.

A Hytale modder demonstrates Minecraft running inside Hytale’s world map using pure CPU-based pixel data manipulation (no GPU/OpenGL), rendering a 320×240, ~35 FPS build server-side. The feat, based on an old Minecraft version (0.30), highlights a thriving modding scene and positions Hytale as a potential Minecraft competitor.

Circana’s 2025 PS Store data shows sports games dominating downloads in both North America/Canada and Europe, with NBA 2K26 top in NA/CA and EA Sports FC 26 leading Europe; Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 falls to #7 in both regions, while Battlefield 6 performs well (No.2 NA, No.5 Europe). Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto V remain strong, and new arrivals like Arc Raiders, Ghost of Yotei, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 crack into NA lists. For PS4, Red Dead Redemption 2 leads in both territories with GTA V and other evergreen titles also ranking highly. Beat Saber dominates PSVR2, Fortnite remains the top free-to-play title, and the data cover PS Store downloads through November 2025, excluding other platforms.
