West Nile Virus Detected in Oklahoma County Mosquitoes
Two mosquito pools carrying the West Nile virus have been confirmed in Oklahoma County, according to the Oklahoma City-County Health Department. People are advised to take extra precautions against mosquito-borne illness by avoiding mosquito bites and reducing habitats where mosquitoes live and breed. The basics to reducing mosquito habitats include emptying buckets, flowerpots, wheelbarrows, and old tires from holding standing water. The Oklahoma City-County Health Department also recommends using microbial larvicides on standing water sources that cannot be drained.
