Lt. Jeffrey Norman, a 20-year veteran of the Memphis Fire Department, was killed while battling a house fire in South Memphis. Three other firefighters were injured and hospitalized after being trapped inside the burning house. One firefighter has died and three others are hospitalized after a fire broke out at a vacant home in South Memphis. The fire started in a dumpster and spread to the house. Memphis Fire Department officials responded to a call to check debris on the I-40 bridge and noticed someone beneath it, prompting rescue crews to be called in. Despite the efforts of Memphis police and Tennessee Department of Transportation crews, no one was found. Traffic has since reopened.
