Manipur Crisis: Meghalaya CM calls for balanced approach, Congress raises disqualification, and Home Ministry sends additional personnel
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, president of the National People's Party (NPP), has called on the Modi government to consider all options under the Constitution to restore peace in Manipur, which he describes as a "humanitarian crisis" and "extremely complicated". Sangma's NPP is an ally of Manipur's BJP government, and he emphasizes the need for a balanced approach to address the suffering of the people of Manipur, regardless of their community. The ongoing ethnic clashes in Manipur have resulted in over 130 deaths and numerous injuries, displacing thousands of people. The NPP had previously expressed disappointment with the state government's handling of the situation and threatened to reconsider its support.
