Daylight fireball over Lake Erie lights up Northeast Ohio, with Medina County fragments possible
A bright daylight meteor exploded over Northeast Ohio near Lake Erie, causing loud booms and shaking. NASA and the National Weather Service confirmed it was a small asteroid (~6 feet, ~7 tons) that fragmented over Valley City and traveled southeast at about 45,000 mph, with witnesses across the region and even into Canada reporting the fireball. Meteorites may have landed in Medina County; Cleveland was not struck.
