UK Introduces Tongue Implant to Combat Sleep Apnea
A new app-controlled tongue implant, designed to treat obstructive sleep apnoea by stimulating the hypoglossal nerve, is being trialed at University College London Hospital. The Genio Nyxoah implant offers an alternative to CPap machines, potentially reducing snoring and improving sleep quality. The device, which is implanted under the skin and controlled via a smartphone app, has shown promising results in early patients, with improvements in sleep patterns and overall well-being.
