PGA Tour-LIV Golf Merger Leaves U.S. Open Players Confused and Uncertain.
Defending U.S. Open champion Matthew Fitzpatrick and other golfers are confused about the PGA Tour's proposed partnership with LIV Golf and the DP World Tour, which is funded by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. Several big names in the sport, including Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, and Phil Mickelson, reportedly received signing bonuses in excess of $100 million for joining LIV Golf. Fitzpatrick and Cam Smith have different views on the merger, but both are focused on playing their best at the U.S. Open and not letting the drama affect their game.
