General Motors is laying off 1,314 employees at manufacturing plants in Michigan, including 945 at the Orion Assembly Subsystems Plant and 369 at the Lansing Grand River Assembly/Stamping and Lansing Regional Stamping. Chennai Floods: Stranded Residents and Closed Plants Amidst Cyclone Michaung

Four days after cyclone Michaung hit the coast of Chennai, India, hundreds of people remain stranded and some manufacturing plants in the tech-and-auto hub district are still closed. At least 14 people have died in the flooding, and low-lying areas are still inundated. Volunteers are providing food and supplies to those stuck in their homes, while some schools and colleges have been converted into temporary shelters.
