"Manila Bay Land Reclamation Projects Suspended Amid US Concerns"
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has suspended 22 major land reclamation projects in Manila Bay indefinitely to assess their environmental impact and legal compliance. The decision comes after the United States expressed concerns over environmental damage and the involvement of a Chinese company blacklisted by Washington for building militarized Chinese island bases in the South China Sea. A team of scientists will review ongoing and planned reclamation projects, which were approved by the previous administration. The bay, known for its pollution, is targeted for upscale hotels, casinos, and entertainment centers.
