USPS Plans Third Stamp Price Increase in a Year Due to Inflation
The US Postal Service has proposed a 3-cent increase in postage stamp prices, which would be the 17th rate change since 2000 and the second increase this year if approved. The proposed increase is aimed at offsetting inflation and addressing a defective pricing model from prior years. However, critics argue that frequent rate hikes are unsustainable and will lead to a decrease in mail volume. The proposed rates would increase the price of a 1-ounce letter to 66 cents, up from 63 cents, and metered 1-ounce letters to 63 cents, up from 60 cents.
