Navy Shipbuilders' Union Ratifies 3-Year Labor Pact at Bath Iron Works
The largest union at Navy shipbuilder Bath Iron Works in Maine has approved a new three-year contract, avoiding a potential strike. The contract includes pay raises ranging from 2.6% to 9.6% in the first year, followed by increases of 5% in the second year and 4% in the third. Workers will also receive increased contributions to their national pension plan, while health insurance costs will rise. The agreement was supported by 72% of union members in online voting. The shipyard, which builds guided-missile destroyers, is a major employer in the state with 6,700 workers.
