ASUS Unveils Surprising GPU Fusion: RTX 4090 as eGPU via RTX 4060 Ti's M.2 Slot
ASUS has released the innovative RTX 4060 Ti DUAL SSD graphics card, which features an M.2 slot that can be used for both storage and external GPU support. In a video demonstration, ASUS paired the RTX 4060 Ti with an RTX 4090 GPU, connecting them through an M.2 to PCIe Gen4x4 adapter. However, due to bandwidth limitations, the performance of the RTX 4090 is not fully unlocked. The M.2 slot also supports PCIe Gen5 specs, demonstrated by the Crucial MP700 SSD. The M.2 slot is compatible with Intel Z790, Z690, and H770 motherboards, while AMD platforms support lane splitting.
