Chinese chipmaker Loongson is set to release its 3A6000 CPU lineup, which will feature Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) support, allowing for faster performance by splitting physical cores into two threads. The lineup will include a 4C/8T and an 8C/16T configuration, similar to Intel's Alder Lake and AMD's Zen 3 processors. Loongson's new "Dragon core" architecture brings a significant 68% performance uplift in single-core floating-point performance. The company plans to release the new lineup this year, primarily targeting the Chinese market.
