"Sara Innamorato Sworn In as Allegheny County's Inaugural Female Executive"

Sara Innamorato has been sworn in as Allegheny County's first female county executive after winning a tight race in the fall elections. At 37, the Pittsburgh native and former Pennsylvania state representative will manage a budget exceeding $3 billion and has pledged to align the county's priorities with those of the community. Concurrently, Corey O'Connor has begun his first full term as Allegheny County controller, having won the November election by a significant margin. Both Innamorato and O'Connor are set to tackle issues such as public safety, homelessness, and affordable housing in their new roles.

Tory losses and Labour gains in England's local elections.

The early results of the UK local elections show that Labour has made a net gain of 119 seats and taken control of three key targets, while the Conservatives have suffered a net loss of 228 councillors and lost five councils to no overall control. The Liberal Democrats and Greens have also made gains. However, with three-quarters of the councils still counting results, it will be some time before a full picture emerges. The Tories are pinning the blame on a bleak economic picture, political chaos, and a long stint in national government. Labour is claiming that these results show they are "on track to win the next general election."
